This is what our guests at Desi and Merrica’s Palmetto Beach Vacation Rental Home on North Caicos have to say:
Quiet getaway

Wow, this place is across the street from a great beach. Had fun snorkeling, kite surfing, beachcombing. We rented a car and made this place our home base for a few days while we toured North and Middle Caicos. The bikes at the villa were a nice touch, it was easy to get to the grocery store or Karen’s restaurant, the Silver Palm. Loved the peace and quiet, this is far and away from the bustle of the all-inclusives on Providenciales. Drew

Sweet little secret
Left on 02/17/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We wanted to get away from it all and this was the perfect place to be a recluse or hermit. We bought a bunch of groceries and settled in for a week. Walked the beach every day, rode bicycles around the neighborhood and grilled our dinner outside on the patio each evening. The only time we ventured out was for Sunday brunch at Silver Palm restaurant which was pretty nice after a week of solitude and cornflakes. mr+mrs-hermit

Desi and Merrica’s home is lovely. It was spotless, very comfortable, and completely equipped with everything needed for a fantastic vacation. Just a few steps from the deserted beach, and just a short walk from the grocery store, the location is fantastic. The home, the beach, the water, and dinner every night at The Silver Palm made it a perfect, get away from it all, vacation. We have already started planning our trip back next year. We can’t wait to see how all the plantings in the yard grow over the next year.Desi and the dogs were great hosts. Unfortunately we did not get to meet Merrica and thank her for opening her home to us. Hopefully she is completely recovered from her surgery and enjoying life back on North Caicos. Give both Desi and Merrica our Thanks. Rick and Joanne, Pennsylvania

Since we stopped staying at the condos (which are next to Karen’s restaurant), we have relied on Karen to arrange accommodations for us elsewhere on the island. She did this for us in February 2010 (we stayed in a villa near the beach about 1 mile east of her restaurant) and we once again received the superior service that Karen always delivers. She not only fed us scrumptious meals at the Silver Palm, but made sure the villa was clean, in good repair and well furnished for our vacation. It had bikes, a BBQ area and grill and a cell phone to use on the island. She arranged cabs for us on both North and Provo, checked to see if we needed anything she might not have thought of (we answered no because she had anticipated our needs beautifully) and otherwise reached out to insure we had an amazing vacation. You can be assured she will do the same for you. In summary, contact Karen for a fantastic time on North Caicos. Malibu 85, Concord, CA

I cannot say how much we appreciated your hospitality and the time we spent on North Caicos and not to forget the conch fritters of course. …. We’ve had three wonderful weeks !. Thanks a lot for everything you’ve done for us! A taste of paradise!….. any possibilities to go fishing in June for Tarpon, Snook, and Permit, having our base on North? .. a note of thanks for the warm welcome and chance to visit your little piece of paradise. I really enjoyed the little events that we attended and had some good laughs at. Hopefully I’ll be able to come back someday and catch that fish that got away. I think that I had eau de beer so the fish weren’t biting…..better luck next time. You were awesome hostess and tour guide and of course Poach was an awesome story teller. I ‘ll have good memories from this one.
I also have Sam to thank for this trip and finally introducing me to you after all these years…its about time. She’s a good and brave friend to take a chance on traveling together. Shari

..already missing TCI
I just want to say again-thank you. It was a great trip and even better to visit with you in your ‘other home’. You were a gracious hostess which made this visit so enjoyable. I ‘m so glad I finally got down there…not sure why it took me 20+ years??? Thank Poach too- it was nice to meet him and get to know him. Tell him he owes me a big good bye hug next time I see him
